Sustainable science and engineering for the global community

Projects

Phase I

This past August, Future Scientist made its first trip to the Peruvian Amazon to test this fresh concept on international aid. The group worked closely with Casa Girasoles Orphanage and the community school in Puerto Alegria, where we taught hands on lessons in solar energy, water filtration, and disease transmission in addition to a solar panel installation project that now provides sustainable electricity. Phase II

During this time, we also executed an extensive need assessments for the given area. This evaluation indicated a wide spread need for our combined community development projects and technical education in clean water, power, and sanitation. To that end, two skilled volunteers will be sent to Peru to establish Future Scientist's continued presence. In creating roots in a community, we will be setting the base for a sustainable foundation through one of our first project pertaining to biogas digesters. This digester will transform human waste contamination to clean fuel for cooking and fertilizer for farming. This project will reduce pathogen contamination, provide sustainable cooking fuel, and expand existing farming capability. Read more about our biogas project!
