Follow Frances and Brigitte during their trip to Peru

Frances Bell and Brigitte Cronier will be developing a biogas digester program in the Peruvian Amazon over the next 3 months. They will be keeping the Biodigester Project Blog describing their travels, their digester design and construction work, and the science lessons they create. For background information on their project, please visit the Phase II Project page.

Thanks for all your support!!!

Thank you to all who helped make the first fundraiser at Blake's a success. With your help in eating donuts, betting on people stuffing themselves with sugary mush, watching Gautham and Richard eat hot peppers, and otherwise providing much-needed donations, we were able to raise $435 toward the upcoming biogas digester project. Thanks once again to all who contributed. Your donations are greatly appreciated.

A slideshow from the event can be seen here.

Come support Future Scientist at Blake's on Telegraph, Wednesday December 16th

Future Scientist is holding a fundraiser at Blake's on Telegraph to raise money for the upcoming biogas digester program in Peru.

There will be a raffle and a donut eating contest, so come bet on which one of your friends can down donuts the fastest.

What: eating, drinking, and merriment to support the efforts of Future Scientist
When: Wednesday, December 16th 7:00 - 10:00 PM
Where: Blake's on Telegraph (see map below)
Why: because we need YOUR help for our science education program

Scientists validate our approach to science education

Researchers published a study on December 3rd, 2009 in the journal Science, indicating that connecting material taught in science class to students' lives increases interest and performance in school. The study, "Promoting Interest and Performance in High School Science Classes" confirmed education can be made more effective by linking abstract concepts to practical examples in daily life. We seek to extend that idea beyond the classroom walls and use science education to improve people's lives. Want to help?
